TEDxBangkokU

Founded and directed TEDxBangkokU, Bangkok University's first fully student-driven TEDx initiative, creating an international platform for youth leadership, innovation, and ideas worth spreading. As License Holder and Project Director, I led multicultural organizing teams of up to 170 members, engaged international speakers and strategic partners, and delivered two editions of TEDxBangkokU, connecting students, professionals, and global changemakers.

Overview

TEDxBangkokU is an independently organized TEDx initiative established in 2025 to empower young people, amplify diverse perspectives, and promote meaningful dialogue on leadership, innovation, and social change.
As the Founder, License Holder, and Project Director, I initiated the project during my involvement in Bangkok University's Student Union, transforming a student-led vision into an international platform connecting students, industry leaders, policymakers, and international organizations.

The inaugural TEDxBangkokU 2025: Out of the Box brought together 15 Thai- and English-speaking speakers and approximately 100 international audience members, supported by an organizing team of up to 50 members.
Building on this foundation, TEDxBangkokU 2026: Transformative Leadership in Uncertain Times explored how resilience, empathy, ethical leadership, and innovation can empower individuals to navigate global challenges.

The 2026 edition expanded the initiative's international engagement, featuring 11 speakers representing seven countries, with participation from business leaders, industry professionals, and influential changemakers. The event received strategic support from the Embassy of Canada in Thailand and TEDxBangkok and welcomed Her Excellency Ms. Ping M. Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand.

The project also expanded its organizing capacity to an international team of up to 170 members, demonstrating the potential of student-led initiatives to deliver internationally connected events.

Challenge

Young people possess significant potential to contribute to leadership, innovation, and social development. However, opportunities for students to engage directly with experienced professionals, international organizations, and influential decision-makers remain limited.

Traditional leadership structures often prioritize seniority, authority, and professional experience, creating barriers for emerging leaders seeking opportunities to share their ideas and influence meaningful change.
At Bangkok University, there was an opportunity to establish a student-driven platform that could bridge these gaps by connecting young people with diverse perspectives, professional networks, and international communities.
Recognizing this need, I initiated TEDxBangkokU to demonstrate that young people are capable not only of participating in global conversations but also of leading and organizing platforms that facilitate them.

The project sought to address three interconnected challenges: limited youth access to influential networks, insufficient opportunities for cross-sector knowledge exchange, and the need for more inclusive perspectives on leadership.
Through TEDxBangkokU, I aimed to create a sustainable platform where ideas could inspire action and young people could develop the confidence, capabilities, and connections necessary to become changemakers.

Objectives

1. Empower Emerging Leaders
Create opportunities for students and young professionals to develop leadership capabilities, confidence, critical thinking, and the courage to contribute to meaningful change.

2. Amplify Diverse Voices and Perspectives
Provide an inclusive platform for individuals from different nationalities, industries, and backgrounds to share experiences and ideas worth spreading.

3. Promote Transformative Leadership
Challenge conventional leadership perspectives by highlighting resilience, empathy, ethical decision-making, adaptability, and innovation as essential qualities of modern leadership.

4. Strengthen International and Cross-Sector Collaboration
Connect students, professionals, entrepreneurs, policymakers, diplomatic representatives, and international organizations to encourage knowledge exchange and collaborative opportunities.

5. Develop Youth-Led Organizational Capacity
Provide practical opportunities for students to gain experience in project management, strategic planning, international communication, partnership development, and large-scale event execution.

6. Establish Sustainable Impact
Develop TEDxBangkokU into a continuing platform that inspires young people to transform ideas into initiatives, collaborations, and positive contributions to society.

TEDxBangkokU demonstrated how student-led initiatives can create meaningful opportunities for youth empowerment, international engagement, and leadership development.

By establishing Bangkok University's first fully student-driven TEDx platform, I helped create a space where young people could engage with influential speakers, exchange perspectives, and participate in discussions extending beyond the traditional classroom environment.

The initiative's expansion from a 50-member organizing team in 2025 to a 170-member international team in 2026 increased opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in leadership, project management, communication, and international collaboration.

Through the participation of speakers from seven countries, industry leaders, and diplomatic representatives, TEDxBangkokU also strengthened connections between the university community and international professional networks.

The initiative contributed to a more inclusive understanding of leadership by emphasizing that meaningful change can originate from young people regardless of their age, position, or professional background.

Beyond its annual events, TEDxBangkokU established a foundation for continued youth-led collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of ideas that inspire positive social change.

Overall Impact: The project strengthened student leadership opportunities, expanded international engagement, and demonstrated the capacity of young organizers to establish and deliver an internationally connected platform for ideas and innovation.

Long-term outcomes, such as participants launching new initiatives or securing career opportunities, have not yet been quantified in the materials provided.
